Pulse Secure, Virginia Tech’s virtual private network client (VPN) will be upgraded to a new software version on March 4, 2024.

Those who use the VPN service will be required to complete the upgrade by 5 p.m. EST on Friday, March 15, 2024. With this upgrade, the application name will also change from “Pulse Secure” to “Ivanti Secure Access Client.”

Starting Monday, March 4, users will be given the option to install the new client software each time they use the VPN. The upgrade process only takes a couple of minutes to complete. When prompted to upgrade, users should click “Proceed,” which will take them to the next window. Then, clicking “Upgrade” will start the process.

Some users may require an IT administrator to complete the upgrade on their behalf. Users who are unable to complete the upgrade by entering their credentials should contact their departmental IT staff for assistance.
